Lea Hiemann & Pawsitive Parks

The project Skyrthalia vol. II – Pawsitive Parks will take place in Thessaloniki, Greece, from 3 to 22 December 2025. It is implemented as a 20-day volunteering in teams project under the framework of the activity “Be Sustainable, Sportive and Cultural” (compact action). Thessaloniki's stray animal crisis is pervasive, driven by low sterilization rates, limited funding, health risks from disease and parasites, and societal neglect or abuse. Despite commendable efforts from volunteers and animal welfare organizations, the scale of the issue demands comprehensive, coordinated action—including expanded neutering initiatives, stronger legal enforcement, increased municipal support, public education, and institutional resources. The project focuses on two main priorities: (1) Green practices for sustainable urban environments and (2) Protection, care, and support of pets’ quality of life in the city.

Short CV

Lea Hiemann, born in 2006 in Germany, is a recent graduate of a German international school. After her first solo trip at 17, she developed a strong desire to explore the world, encounter different cultures, and engage with diverse communities. Empathetic, creative, communicative, and open-minded, she wants to contribute to social projects, particularly those supporting women, young people, LGBTQ+ individuals, and other minorities. Lea is also interested in environmental issues, agriculture, and sustainability. Motivated to step outside her comfort zone, she is seeking a variety of opportunities: educational support, workshops, social work, or community projects. Her goal is simple: to make a difference, even on a small scale, to contribute to a better world.

Motivation Letter

For me, creativity is a tool to heal, connect and inspire change. That is why I am excited about this opportunity: it combines animal welfare, sustainability and artistic training. I love expressing myself through painting, drawing and photography, and I am eager to learn new performance methods during the workshops. From renovating classrooms to organising flea markets and cleaning forests, I know the power of teamwork and practical action. I bring openness, positivity and empathy to group life, and I am ready to grow through this training — gaining skills I can later use to engage communities and promote a more eco-conscious, solidary way of living.
