The program of day #04
The program of day #04

The day’s focus was on sea vehicles, with a study visit to the VELOS Ship Museum. Participants creatively worked in teams, even while walking to the port, demonstrating seamless adaptability. In the evening, the Park of the Nations transformed into a hub of artistic expression with cinema screenings and collaborative short film projects focusing on sea safety.

🎯 Successful Completion: The sea-themed educational reels were created and uploaded. Every participant contributed to the art installations and screenings.💡 Comment of the Day: “From land to sea, every space is a canvas to raise awareness about safe mobility.”

Project GREEN VELOCITY: Detailed Itinerary and Objectives – Day 6 (16 July 2025)

Following a week of intensive engagement with urban mobility and traffic behaviour, Day 6 of GREEN VELOCITY expands the concept of responsibility to include maritime history and military heritage. The day combines logistical planning, historical reflection, and creative immersion across three distinct sessions: individual planning, a symbolic field visit to the naval destroyer VELOS, and an open-air cinema evening in the Park of Nations.

☀️ Morning Session (08:00 – 09:45)

Module 6.1: Coordination Walk & Role Planning

  • Time: 08:00 – 09:45

  • Location: Δυτικό Πολιτιστικό Κέντρο / West Municipal Cultural Center → Port of Thessaloniki

Objectives:

  • To clarify the structure and focus of the day through a dynamic outdoor planning activity.

  • To strengthen collaboration through informal and movement-based team building.

  • To assign clear responsibilities aligned with media production and thematic documentation.

Agenda:

  • Daily Briefing: Coordinators presented the day's structure, objectives, and deliverables for all participants.

  • Walking Planning Session: Teams walked together toward the port, discussing their tasks while engaging in informal dialogue.

  • Role Assignment: Final distribution of individual roles for filming, photography, content writing, and coordination.

  • Reflection-in-Motion: Participants were encouraged to reflect on how discipline, routine, and responsibility manifest in different environments — from public streets to naval command.

Expected Outcomes:

  • A shared understanding of the creative and educational goals of the VELOS visit.

  • Clarified individual tasks and production goals (media capture, interviews, documentation).

  • Strengthened team cohesion through mobile, low-structure collaboration.

🚢 Daytime Session (10:00 – 12:30)

Module 6.2: Field Visit to Naval Museum Ship VELOS

  • Time: 10:00 – 12:30

  • Location: Naval Museum Ship VELOS (Βέλος), Port of Thessaloniki

Objectives:

  • To explore the historical and political significance of the naval destroyer VELOS as a living symbol of democratic resistance.

  • To draw connections between military discipline and civic responsibility in the context of mobility and public safety.

  • To collect visual and narrative materials for later educational and communication outputs.

Agenda:

  • Guided Tour: A walkthrough of the ship’s historical functions, life at sea, and its role during the 1973 mutiny against the Greek dictatorship.

  • Reflection on Safety & Command: Discussion on the role of vigilance, coordination, and hierarchy in sea navigation and how these values translate to civil society.

  • Media Collection: Participants took photos, recorded impressions, and conducted informal interviews for future storytelling.

  • Documentation of the Experience: Emotional and narrative reactions were captured for integration into Reels and written reflections.

Expected Outcomes:

  • Emotional engagement with the themes of integrity, structure, and resistance.

  • Raw audiovisual material for upcoming creative outputs.

  • A broadened understanding of responsibility beyond road safety — into national history, civic courage, and leadership.

  • Special Acknowledgement: The team expresses sincere gratitude to the crew and curators of VELOS for opening their space and stories to our group.

🌿 Evening Session (19:00 – 21:30)

Module 6.3: Outdoor Cinema & Collective Reflection

  • Time: 19:00 – 21:30

  • Location: Park of the Nations, Thessaloniki

Objectives:

  • To decompress and reflect on the day's themes through cultural immersion and dialogue.

  • To promote participant-generated content and perspectives in an open, creative environment.

  • To use cinema as a vehicle for understanding mobility, responsibility, and storytelling.

Agenda:

  • Venue Setup: Participants prepared the outdoor cinema space, tested audio/visual equipment, and arranged seating and snacks.

  • Short Film Screening: A curated selection of films addressing issues of mobility, citizenship, and the consequences of decisions in public systems.

  • Participant Presentations: Individuals and small teams shared daily content, reactions to the museum visit, and personal takeaways.

  • Informal Networking: A relaxed evening with food and conversation — reinforcing trust and horizontal team structure.

Expected Outcomes:

  • Deeper emotional processing of the VELOS experience through storytelling and discussion.

  • Increased visibility for participant voices through open-format content sharing.

  • Reinforcement of group identity in a peaceful, collaborative atmosphere.

  • Seeds planted for final creative outputs rooted in both historical memory and modern civic responsibility.
