Today was dedicated to remote collaboration. Participants balanced individual project work with contributions to the collective initiatives.
The Chania exhibitions continued, attracting locals who engaged with the project’s digital storytelling displays, sparking discussions on transport safety and shared responsibility.
🎯 Success Highlight: All missing uploads (reels, stories, photos) were successfully added to the Drive. Remote feedback sessions ensured everyone stayed aligned.💡 Quote of the Day: “Our network grows stronger as we synchronize actions beyond borders.”
The news from Chania as they have been published from the locals:
With great success and emotion, during the weekend, July 19-20, 2025, at the historic site of the Koukoutsakis Hall in Azogyre, Paleochora, the Artistic Event against Road Accidents, organized by the Cultural Association of Azogyre, under the auspices of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport. The event was a powerful awareness-raising event on the
timeless and global problem of road accidents, with art becoming a voice of remembrance, warning, and change.
The power of art as a tool for prevention
The event is part of a series of nationwide and Europe-wide actions taking place from July 10 to July 30, as part of the international campaign GREEN VELOCITY: CRASH THE HABIT,
with the support of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport and the Region of Crete. This year, the central theme was "The Thread of Time and its Imprints," an action of the European Solidarity Corps coordinated by the Thessaloniki-based ESAEI EN ROE team.
The evening was a lively call to action and an invitation to open dialogue on
road accident prevention, road safety culture, and individual and collective responsibility. The participation of important Greek and international artists, who transformed their anguish and pain into works of high artistic and moral value, highlighted the ability of art to
heal, unite, and motivate.
Artists who stood out
Among the participating artists, the following left a strong impression:
Rebecca Hamilton-Koukoutsaki: She presented an iconic iconostasis made from car wreckage, creating a powerful symbol of memory and mourning that shocked the audience.
Manto Kouliere: Through her works, she referred to times when cars were rare, emphasizing how much everyday life and the human relationship with driving have changed.
Flora H. Shiran: She boldly focused on the connection between individual responsibility and alcohol consumption, raising questions about the culture of driving under the influence.
Claudia Boldura: She proposed a redefinition of road behavior through provocative visual artworks.
Marc Phillipi: He focused on respect for traffic rules, approaching the issue of everyday discipline on the roads with visual clarity.
Medicci: A local artist, whose works exuded realism and drama, reflecting the need for constant prevention and a change in lifestyle.
Continuation in Chania
For those who were unable to attend Azogyre, a unique opportunity is being offered: the exhibition will be presented at the Chania Cultural Center on Sunday, July 27, 2025, starting at 6:30 p.m. The public in Chania is invited to visit the works, reflect, and support the effort for a society with zero road deaths.
