The project Skyrthalia vol. II – Pawsitive Parks will take place in Thessaloniki, Greece, from 3 to 22 December 2025. It is implemented as a 20-day volunteering in teams project under the framework of the activity “Be Sustainable, Sportive and Cultural” (compact action). Thessaloniki's stray animal crisis is pervasive, driven by low sterilization rates, limited funding, health risks from disease and parasites, and societal neglect or abuse. Despite commendable efforts from volunteers and animal welfare organizations, the scale of the issue demands comprehensive, coordinated action—including expanded neutering initiatives, stronger legal enforcement, increased municipal support, public education, and institutional resources. The project focuses on two main priorities: (1) Green practices for sustainable urban environments and (2) Protection, care, and support of pets’ quality of life in the city.

Motivation Letter
My name is Julia, and I’m a French student who loves discovering new cultures, working on creative projects, and contributing to meaningful causes. When I read about this volunteer opportunity in Thessaloniki, it immediately resonated with me. The idea of making public spaces greener and more welcoming while working alongside people from different backgrounds sounds like an amazing experience. I enjoy hands on projects and finding creative ways to make a difference, so the idea of helping with recycling initiatives and urban regeneration really excites me. I also love the community aspect of this program sharing experiences, learning from others, and working together toward a common goal. Beyond the environmental work, I’m drawn to the program’s focus on inclusion and culture. I believe that small actions can have a big impact, and I’d love to contribute while also learning and growing from this experience. I’m excited about the possibility of joining this project!
