Hi,

Very soon, usually the 21th of June, will be the summer. The summer solstice. For many the very best moment to organize beautiful festivities. Long days and hot nights, food and flowers in the garden.

Of course, it's not just me. Around the world many cultures have their festivities when the longest day of the year finally comes. Even near the equator line, where the day and night time are almost the same all year long. In fact, the very place I've felt the most important to celebrate the sun was in between the tropics, in the Andes mountains range, Inti Raymi.

As for many other tradition when it come to solstice festivities the main activities are music and dance. We dress our best with fine artisanal clothes. We eat as we wish of the best meal we can cook. We drink the most delicious beverages we know. And, to have fun, to share, to dance and sing and play music, to eat and drink, to laugh, to be close one another are the best prayers we know when it concern the sun.

We celebrate the cycle of life, the harvests, the Light, the Earth and the living.

Inti Raymi was the main festivity of the Inca civilization. It still take place the 24 of June, the first day of winter in the south hemisphere. It is meant to celebrate the new cycle of the Sun , his reborn for the year to come. It is the day the Earth and the Sun are the furthest apart.

Solstices and Equinoxes

I like to party. I like it so much I only want to party on special occasion. I want to party accordingly with the Sun and the Earth. I want to party with all the community, the youth, the oldest, the kids, everyone in between. To take days to prepare it together and consume the present day with intensity on what became by work and intention the most intense day of the year.
