Now let's talk about the places where my volunteering adventure takes place.
ESAI-EN-ROI
Cultural Organization of Macedonia
Etymology : means “everything flows”, or “forever in motion”.
Location : 4, Eratosthenous Str Anthokipoi, Polichni 564 29
Date of Birth : 1999
Creation : initially a dancetheater group of professional artists.
Form : since 2003, it has extended its activities and started functioning as a non Governmental Organization
Actions : festivals, schools and youth programs, forum actions, clubs.
Values : sustainability, inclusive culture, arts, innovation, sport. These values are shared with the EU, so this association is linked to different European programmes like Erasmus +, European Solidarity Corps, etc…
KARATASOU PARK
former military base transformed into a park
Location : North West Thessaloniki
Area : 689 acres, one the largest green lung in the region.
Objective : create a multifunctional space for cultural activities, environmental education, safe place for children and visitors.
Actions : artistic and sport activities. Georges, the other volunteer, works there as a gardener.
EER develops plans for this huge area and has created a manifesto in more than 52 languages (with volunteer’s help), that you can sign : Karatasou Park Manifesto
COFFEES
Cosy working places
Location : city center
Atmosphere : fancy, calm, studying
Bonus Potions : Freddo espresso (cold espresso with creamy milk foam) and Frappe (iced coffee with a stronger taste)
I have already tried 4 different coffee places to work on Esai-en-roi missions :
Svolos coffee, Bennia, Hue Rostery and Tabya
QUEST OF THE WEEK (For Georges and I)
Date : 22nd January 2026
Hosting Institution : the Municipality of Thessaloniki and the Deputy Mayor's Office for Innovation, Start-ups, Volunteering, and the New Generation
Location : the Youth & Volunteerism Center (upper city)
Objective : networking, and representing Esai-en-roi.
Reward : tasting the New Year's cake (orange-flavored cake covered with vanilla frosting)
We ended the week with a pleasant dinner at the Green Executive Club, hosted by Eleni, whom we joined afterwards to share a convivial moment over a drink.
