Καλημέρα (Kalimera) ! I am one of the new volunteer of Esai-en-roi for 6 months in Thessaloniki !
Let’s begin with my First name :
Alexis derives from the Greek verb: ἀλέξειν, romanised: aléxein, wich means “the defender, the helper”. Lidec, my Last name, is typical of the region where I am from. The translation may be “the man of ritual, ceremony, and hospitality”. Also, I just celebrated my 29th birthday, last december.
I was born in Rennes (capital city of Britanny) and raised in Lorient (south Britanny), near the Atlantic ocean, within a family of 5 children. Deeply attached and proud of my region, I usually come back to escape from the Paris atmosphere.

In fact, I have lived in Paris for 5 years now. After law and political science studies in Rennes, then Cork (Ireland), Nice and Aix-en-Provence, I finally decided to embrace my passion for theater in the French capital.
Two years in the Auvray Nauroy private theater school in Paris, have been challenging my comfort zone as I learnt a lot through drama classes, filming sessions, singing and dancing lectures. I also had the opportunity to shine on some Paris theater stages, and create strong connexions with comedians.
Working in a pub is part of the reality for many actors, so I started serving pints of beer and getting to know the nightlife scene. I also worked for Theatre du Kalam (company theater based in Colombes) and as theatre box office manager for Odeon, Theatre de l’Europe.

Shrek and Lord of the rings are my cultural roots, yet I also enjoy contemporary theater, celtic music, animated movies, fencing, running, and singing.
Deeply interested in international relations, French politics and social issues, I never stop learning about philosophical, political, ethical and economic topics.
A little-known fact about me (honestly, really bourgeois) : I dream of being able to participate in the New Year's concert with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.
Finally, something i could die for : baguette with salted butter on.
Enough about me, next article will focus on the city of Thessaloniki.
