Hello ladies and gentlemen,

My name is Vincent Gainon and I'm 18 years old. I'm in my first year of a vocational baccalaureate in digital systems at the Sainte-Marie du Port high school in Les Sables-d'Olonne. We're doing a presentation as part of our Erasmus work placement.

I

'm of Chinese origin and French nationality. I come from the city of Xi'an in China. I came to France when I was 3 years old. I live in Saint-Christophe-du-Ligneron in the Vendée and in France, which is a quiet, peaceful town. It is the capital of Shaanxi province in China. The city is located in central China. It has a population of around 6 million, according to an official prefectural census in 2010.

Xi'an is currently one of the 10 largest cities in China. The Silk Road is an ancient network of trade routes between Asia and Europe. It is thought to have been opened by the Chinese general Zhang Qian in the 2nd century BC.

The People's Republic of China is home to 1.4 billion people, or 1/6th of the world's population. It is the second most populous country in the world.

It covers an area of 9,600,000 square kilometres. China stretches from the coasts of the Pacific Ocean to the Pamirs and the Tian Shan, and from the Gobi desert to the Himalayas and the north of the Indochinese peninsula.

It is a Communist country. The People's Republic of China is led by Xi Jinping. The main language is Mandarin. The capital is Beijing.

China has a rich history, with a succession of dynasties.

China's bank holidays, October 1, commemorates the proclamation of the People's Republic of China in 1949.
