My last week of October
During the last week of October, I would say that quite a lot of different things happened and I learnt many new things.
On Monday, October 26th, they celebrated St Demetrios. I learnt that he is one of the most important saints in the Greek Orthodox Church and that he is also the patron saint of Thessaloniki. On Wednesday, October 28th, it was Ochi Day, when they celebrated Greece’s refusal to cooperate with Benito Mussolini, an Italian fascist leader. We probably learnt this at school back in Sweden, but I must have repressed that, so now I learnt it again. There was a parade in the centre of Thessaloniki but unfortunately, I missed it because I had been out late the night before meeting a friend, so I slept through it. Which was a shame, because I was excited to see it, but that's my fault. But when I was out with my friend who is Greek, I was practicing the little Greek I know and learnt a few new words and what it means when you do a specific sign with your hand.

Something else I have memorised is the phrases workers say when I go to the nearby supermarket. Before, whenever I went to the cashier and she spoke Greek to me, I would always said “I can't speak Greek” and they would switch to English. Now I know what they are saying, so I just pretend that I understand and I answer them. Hopefully, they will keep saying the same things until I go home; otherwise I'm gonna look pretty stupid.
Next week, I will start doing my own Radioshows every Thursday. So today, my roommate Nicolai, taught me how the programme we use works so I'll be able to have my radioshow next week.
We only worked half day this Tuesday, which I believe was because it was between two holidays. We had a meeting in the morning, and then I spent my time writing articles and preparing my photo and text for my Radioshow. Today, Thursday, as I’m writing this, I spent my morning in the garden. During our lunch break, I went into town to do a little shopping. I really needed a new jacket because it is starting to get freezing cold here in the mornings and nights. I also needed to buy some earrings, because I lost my old ones, which I'm really sad about.
Now, Nicolai and I are sitting in the office writing articles. Well at least I am. I have no idea whether he is working on articles, his personal project, or editing videos.
Tomorrow, we have Green Friday, and Nicolai and I are going into the city to hand out flyers to shops and the people at the youth festival!
