Inclusive Collaboration Event between the 1st Primary School of Ialysos and the 1st Special Primary School of Rhodes

On May 12th, a remarkable inclusive collaboration event was successfully held between the 1st Primary School of Ialysos and the 1st Special Primary School of Rhodes, within the framework of initiatives promoting social inclusion, cooperation, and experiential learning through play and sports. The event provided a meaningful opportunity for interaction between students from the two school units, reinforcing the values of acceptance, equality, and inclusion.

The activity was organized in the form of rotating activity stations, allowing students to actively participate in different experiential experiences. The groups were mixed, consisting of students from both mainstream and special education, fostering cooperation, communication, and mutual support.

The first station included an adapted “Survivor”-style game, through which students participated in physical challenges and collaborative missions. The activity was designed with emphasis on participation rather than competition, promoting the joy of teamwork and shared success. Students had the opportunity to move, cooperate, and experience the importance of helping one another within a supportive environment.

At the second station, an art activity took place, where students collectively created artworks centered on friendship, cooperation, and diversity. Through painting and creative expression, the children conveyed emotions and ideas while participating in a process that encouraged creativity and teamwork.

The third station involved cooperative games designed to strengthen communication and trust among students. Through simple yet meaningful activities, the children worked in teams, assumed shared roles, and strived to achieve common goals, developing social and emotional skills.

Particular interest was also shown in the fourth station, which focused on the recognition and expression of emotions. Through experiential games, emotion cards, and expressive activities, students were encouraged to identify, express, and understand both their own emotions and the emotions of others. This activity contributed significantly to the development of empathy and emotional intelligence.

The event concluded in a particularly positive and emotionally uplifting atmosphere with the awarding of medals and trophies to all participating students. This symbolic recognition highlighted the message that, in inclusion and cooperation, everyone is a winner. The smiles, joy, and active participation of the children confirmed the great educational value of the initiative.

This partnership clearly demonstrated that when education is based on cooperation, respect, and participation, it can create powerful experiences of acceptance and social inclusion for all students. At the same time, it highlighted the importance of joint actions between mainstream and special schools as a means of building a more inclusive school community, where every child has a place, a role, and the opportunity to participate.
