Greek traditions

emilioc183

One of the most enriching things in the world is learning about new traditions and cultures, fully introducing yourself to the place where you are living. Last week, I was able to enjoy my first Greek Easter. On Saturday night we went to church to the celebration of the resurrection, we lit our candles and greeted to each others with the classical phrase: Χριστός Ανέστη, αληθώς ο Κύριος; that means Christ has resurrected, truly the lord.

We were able to enjoy a wonderful family dinner and on Sunday, although my stomach is not made for that type of meat, we lived the feast of the lamb, the most important day of Greek Easter. All the streets were full of people celebrating the resurrection with music, food and parties. Life begins to resurface throughout Greece and one more example of it is that finally, restrictions due to the pandemic are relaxed and bars, taverns and shops will be able to open. The city is full of nice atmosphere, people going out to enjoy the sun. The city wakes up again and we have many plans and desire to enjoy it to the fullest.
