During my third week of volunteering, I had the opportunity to work on an exciting project aimed at redesigning the playground of a primary school. Supervised by Pella, who is part of the educational team as an AESH (Accompanying Students with Disabilities), our primary goal was to transform this outdoor space to better meet the needs of the students.
We aimed to make the playground more attractive and functional. To achieve this, we considered several enhancements:
Colorful Play Areas: Adding colorful ground games to stimulate children's imagination and physical activity.
Energy Zones: Creating spaces where children could expend their energy, such as play structures or sports fields.
Calm Corners: Installing quiet areas where students could rest or read, thus fostering a soothing environment.
To ensure that the project truly addressed the students' needs, I prepared a questionnaire designed to gather their opinions and requirements. This questionnaire aimed to identify the types of activities they would like to see in the playground, as well as elements that would bring them joy.
In parallel, I also developed a second questionnaire for teachers. The goal was to find out if they wanted to participate in the project and whether they envisioned using the playground for their classes, which could enrich the outdoor educational experience.

Working with Pella has been an enriching experience. Together, we discussed the importance of creating an environment that promotes not only active play but also the overall well-being of students. The redesign of the playground is a collaborative effort that involves not only teachers and students but also parents and the community. By integrating the ideas and needs of all these stakeholders, we hope to create a space that will be genuinely appreciated by everyone.
This playground redesign project represents a wonderful learning opportunity for me as a volunteer. This redesign will not only be an aesthetic improvement but also a means to encourage well-being and growth among children in their educational setting.
