How my last week of september was and the rest of the month
I'm writing this during the last week of september. Which means that I have been here in Thessaloniki, Greece for a month now. And during these couple of days after the on arrival training has been very informative when it comes to my work and special events that I have to work. So now not a day goes by where I’m unsure what to do. Now this isn’t news but I’ve really been set into the culture, I enjoy going to a café and just sitting down there for an hour. And when the spooky season sets in there will be a newspaper matching that halloween spirit with spooky articles, but somewhere in there, there will be a short story with illustrations that I’m working on right now. I will also make one of those spooky/creepy/scary articles. But that is later work.

Right now I went through with my mentors on my work details and wrote them down on a big whiteboard to keep in the office. Especially the larger events, so to sort of prepare. And I really like that because it creates structure and order, which I like. Because some days at the beginning were a bit confusing on what I actually should do but now it is a lot more clear.
And with that short creepy story I’m writing for that newspaper. At first it was just supposed to be two different articles fitting into the halloween theme. But I asked if I could instead write a short story with illustrations and just one article with that. And I didn’t think it would be as fun as it was to write it, I honestly prefer to write those short stories instead of articles. And those illustrations are not perfect but I’m using canva and drawing on my mousepad which can be pretty tricky, but they are understandable enough. Unfortunately it is mandatory to write one article per week. And even though it is kind of really boring I think it is good for me to do that, I can express myself in a different way, and now I am a few articles in here and I definitely see improvement in myself. Also I get a lot of freedom in how I write which I like, it’s not like in school where you have to follow certain rules for it to be acceptable. But here I can write how I want, obviously there are rules in what I’m allowed to talk about. Like I have to be professional and not use swear words and not take sides in political matters.
I really feel like this month has gone past fast, even though there was kind of a lot going on I had a lot of fun. And I didn’t think I was going to miss some things from Sweden. Obviously I miss my family. But stuff that links to comfort such as my own room etcetera. But stuff like my computer to play video games. And I don’t miss it as much as I thought I was going to, because I occupy myself with other things, such as reading my books or watching a tv show or a movie. And then during the days I have work. And now the weather is slowly changing but it feels weird because in Sweden its now cold, rainy and real autumn weather and the leaves have fallen and are now orange, red, yellow and everything in between. And I really miss that weather, so every time it rains here in Thessaloniki I make sure to go out for a walk and take it all in.
