Farewell to Thessaloniki

Writer's picture: Vittoria GulinoVittoria Gulino

As this chapter of my journey in Thessaloniki with the Esai en Roi association comes to a close, I find myself reflecting on all the experiences, challenges, and accomplishments of these past months. It has been a period of intense growth and learning, and as I wrap up my time here, I am finishing the final tasks that mark the end of this phase.

In this last week, I completed several tasks, including a collection of photos capturing these months, the last articles I wrote, and my final contributions to the tasks I worked on alongside Dimitris for the youth conference.

Now, it’s time to pack my belongings, gather the final gifts for friends and family, and say my goodbyes to the people I’ve met during my time here. Thessaloniki has been a city of warm connections and demanding lessons. Leaving it behind stirs a mix of emotions with me. On one hand, I feel excited for what lies ahead—the new opportunities, adventures, and discoveries. On the other hand, there’s a bittersweet sadness, as I bid farewell to this place that has become a temporary home.

This chapter may be closing, but it has left an indelible mark on me. As I turn the page, I carry the memories, lessons, and emotions of this time, grateful for the journey and the people who have made it so special.
