My Experience in Thessaloniki with the SKYRTHALIA Project
Last December, I had the incredible opportunity to volunteer in Thessaloniki, Greece, as part of the SKYRTHALIA Project, and it was an experience I will always cherish. During my time there, I was able to deeply connect with the city’s green spaces, exploring their beauty, strengths, and areas for improvement. Each park we studied told a unique story, and working alongside local communities to understand their perspectives made our efforts feel truly meaningful.
In addition to our environmental activities, I had the chance to participate in enriching workshops that expanded my creative skills. Mr. Yiannis, representing ESAI EN ROI in the artistic sector, led an inspiring video workshop where I learned how to tell stories through visuals. His kindness and dedication left a lasting impression on me. Similarly, Mr. John conducted a photography workshop that helped me see Thessaloniki from a new perspective and capture its essence through my camera lens.
However, beyond the knowledge and skills I gained, it was the connections I made with fellow volunteers and locals that truly made this experience unforgettable. Sharing laughter, challenges, and moments of reflection created bonds that I will carry with me for a long time.
I am deeply grateful for this experience and the opportunity to contribute to such a meaningful project. I hope our efforts will inspire lasting positive change in Thessaloniki's green spaces and beyond.
