Combatting Hate's Journey



E-learning 1 February - 14 March 2021 | Online, Spain

This course is for educators and youth workers and is a blended course including asynchronous activities, project-based learning, and synchronous tutorial and dialogue sessions. It is part of the Erasmus+ KA2 project, Hate's Journey.

This training course is co-financed through the Erasmus+ programme and is part of the KA205 project Hate’s Journey. This training course follows the following format: Duration of activity: 6 Weeks Amount of Online Facilitated Dialogue Sessions (OFD): 2 (week 1 & 6) Amount of asynchronous activities: between 5 & 7 hours per week Extra Support: Online chat, email, and weekly face to face office hours Total hours: 7 hours per week (Equivalent to a 6-day training course) In the next section, we explain what activities we have planned for each week. Week 1 (Blended) Introductions - Asynchronous (5 hours) In week one, you will begin to introduce yourselves to the platform forum. You will also watch a video about Hate Speech and Mental health in preparation for this week's synchronous activity and complete a quiz based on the video. You will also complete a reflection forum. Synchronous Session (Online Facilitated Dialogue) (2 hours) (You will be sent a form to choose the best session time/day for you) During this session, you will meet each other in your groups for the first time. This will be an excellent opportunity for you to start to break the ice and plan how you will work together on your first project. This session will also include facilitated dialogue about the video that you will have watched to prepare. Finally, these sessions will also discuss your expectations and goals for participating in this training course and introducing the exchange's reflection element. Extra Support: Online chat, email, and weekly face to face office hours Week 2 (Asynchronous) - Hate Speech (Group work) - Asynchronous (7 hours) Project one: In groups, you will work collaboratively to create a presentation using Google Slides, Powerpoint, Video, etc., in response to a question/issue/problem that affects young people. You will also complete a reflection forum. Extra Support: Online chat, email, and weekly face to face office hours Week 3 (Asynchronous) - Critical Thinking - Asynchronous (7 hours) You will take part in a survey. This survey is designed to provoke open dialogue and reflection. Presentation: Using Zoom (or another tool), your group needs to meet and present your work. You must record this session and upload it to the platform for review by your peers and trainers. Peer reviews. You will also complete a reflection forum. Extra Support: Online chat, email, and weekly face to face office hours Week 4 (Asynchronous) Project Two. This week (4), next week (5), and week (6), you will work on your main project. Creating a tool kit/ video / other resources Asynchronous (7 hours) Your task is to create a resource that would be useful for youth workers to access to find tools, activities, and advice about dealing with hate speech in your project group. You have two weeks to complete it, and in week 6, you will be presenting it. You will also complete a reflection forum. Extra Support: Online chat, email, and weekly face to face office hours Week 5 (Asynchronous) - Asynchronous (7 hours) Project Two. You will continue to work on your main project. Creating a tool kit/ video / other resources. You will also complete a reflection forum. Extra Support: Online chat, email, and weekly face to face office hours Week 6 (Blended) - Asynchronous (5 hours) Project Two. This week you will complete work on your main project. Creating a tool kit/ video / other resources. You will also complete a reflection forum. Synchronous Session (Online Facilitated Dialogue) (2 hours) (You will be sent a form to choose the best session time/day for you). You will present your work to trainers and engage in a facilitated dialogue about hate speech and youth work. Extra Support: Online chat, email, and weekly face to face office hours
